Quadron

I came across Denmarks Quadron at 'My Turtle Neck' - the blog of NY Creative Director Catherine Mangosing. Inquisitive at Catherine's rave review I knew I'd just have to download this duos self titled album, and boy I'm sure glad that I did!

I don't know what's in the water in Scandinavia, but they sure as hell know how to create a really refreshing sound - Quadron is an absolute gem! With eclectic influences of Motown, Soul, Electronic, Jazz - Quadron is very hard to define - this is music with a personality disorder but in a very good way! Some tracks remind me of Roisin Murphy others Corinne Baily Ray, some Erykah Badu. There is also a big Lykke Li comparision too.

In their own words, Quadron are "trying to give the soul scene a vitamin boost and provide an alternative to the american R'n'B that is dominating the charts. They call their music electronic soul, mixing the sound of hand-played instruments with the benefits of today's computer-related techniques."

Available to download at itunes or the CD is released today! 

 

Celeste Potter Animation

Australian illustrator Celeste Potter works with the music industry to create animation, CD covers, posters and band merchandise. Here is a lovely animated piece that she has written, illustrated and directed for Sarah Blasko's song 'no turning back'. Funny, it's not my style of music at all, but it has really got into my head! The animation is so good you really have to watch, and listen to it all!
